1. Klyde Warren Park

Built directly over the freeway in central Dallas, Klyde Warren Park is a 5.2-acre oasis in the middle of the city. The park is a beautifully designed green space with short walking trails, grassy areas to sit, a dog park, ping pong tables and more. Plus, local food trucks regularly frequent the area, so you can easily grab a snack or lunch during the day.

2. Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden

The Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden sits along the edge of White Rock Lake and is certainly a sight to behold. The area contains 66 acres of beautifully maintained gardens and also features seasonal venues and events. For example, once autumn rolls around, the gardens are full of pumpkins and fall foliage – definitely worth a visit!

3. Katy Trail

Like to hike, bike, or run? If so, Katy Trail is going to be your new go-to place. Running through the Uptown and Oak Lawn areas of Dallas, Katy Trail is a 3.5-mile-long hike and bike trail – a perfect place for Dallas residents to get out and enjoy nature in the middle of the city. So, if you’re looking to get active, give Katy Trail a try.

4. Dallas World Aquarium

If you like sea life, then you’re going to love the Dallas World Aquarium. Located in downtown Dallas, the World Aquarium is different than most aquariums. Besides an abundance of sea creatures, the aquarium also features animals such as birds and monkeys in a giant natural habitat area. It’s an especially great place to go in the summer on a scalding hot Texas day.

5. White Rock Lake Park

White Rock Lake Park is another great place for Dallas residents to get out and experience nature. White Rock Lake covers 1,015 acres and is surrounded by hike and bike trails. The lake and park area also features several marinas and an extraordinary dog park, complete with a special swimming area for the pups. Definitely check it out!

6. Dallas Museum of Art

Located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas (and just across the street from Kylde Warren Park), the Dallas Art Museum is one of the largest art museums in America. The museum is home to a number of different exhibits – both permanent and temporary. Plus, there are plenty of kid-friendly exhibits and activities for the little ones too.

7. Dealey Plaza

If you’re new to Dallas, Dealey Plaza is a must-see. Located in the historic West End District of downtown Dallas, Dealey Plaza is the location where John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963. There’s also an interesting museum that’s definitely worth checking out called The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.

If you’re into farmers markets, then you will love the Dallas Farmers Market. The farmers market itself has been around for years, but the whole area has recently been redone to include even more vendors than ever before, plus an amazing indoor shopping and eating area. It’s a great place to go to experience a local taste of Dallas.

9. Bishop Arts District

Located in north Oak Cliff, Dallas, the Bishop Arts District is a fun and quirky little area full of amazing shops and restaurants. Plus, the area is home to art galleries and theaters, so the entertainment scene is also strong in the area.

10. State Fair of Texas

Although this is only a seasonal event, it’s worth including on our list because it truly is an incredible fair. Traditionally beginning on the last Friday of September and running for 24 days, the State Fair of Texas has everything from animals and traditional fair rides to, of course, a plethora of different fried foods (including fried Oreos!).
