1. Fort Worth Zoo
Consistently named one of the top zoos in the United States, the Fort Worth Zoo is a great place for a family adventure or even a date night out. It was founded in 1909 with just a handful of animals but has grown to house over 5,000 animals across 64 acres. Located just a few minutes from downtown Fort Worth, it’s definitely worth checking out.
2. Magnolia Street Shops and Restaurants
Magnolia Street is not your typical city street. Recently revitalized, the Magnolia Street area is home to fun little shops and amazing restaurants. The street is totally walkable and a perfect place for a date night out. You’ll find a little bit of everything food-wise, from Barbeque and Bruch to Fine Dining and beyond.
3. Fort Worth Botanic Garden
If you are a nature lover, then you will love the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Created in 1934, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden is the oldest botanic garden in Texas. Breathtaking regardless of the season, the garden covers 109 acres and is home to over 2,500 species of both exotic and native plants. Take the kids or plan a date night out!
4. Fort Worth Stockyards
The Fort Worth Stockyards is a must-see for visitors and locals alike. Classified as a national historic district, the Fort Worth Stockyards has been around since 1866 when the area was home to an old livestock market. Full of historical buildings and tons of charm, the stockyards also showcase a twice-daily cattle drive where you can see cattle walk through the streets.
5. Stockyards Championship Rodeo
Speaking of the Fort Worth Stockyards, while you’re there, you should definitely check out the Stockyards Championship Rodeo. The rodeo takes place every Friday and Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. at the Cowtown Coliseum, which is located just inside the stockyards. It’s a fun and fast-paced show that the whole family will enjoy – so go check it out!
6. Kimbell Art Museum
If nothing else, you need to check out this art museum just for the architecture of the building. Designed by renowned architect Louis I. Kahn, the Kimbell Art Museum is recognized as an outstanding display of modern architecture. Of course, it’s also home to an amazing art collection, with pieces from many different time periods.
7. Fort Worth Water Gardens
Built in 1974, the Fort Worth Water Gardens consist of several different elaborate water features. The water gardens are located in the heart of downtown Fort Worth, making it a great place to relax and pause in the middle of the day. Often referred to as a “cooling oasis in the concrete jungle,” the water gardens are certainly worth a visit.
8. Sundance Square
Sundance Square is literally the heart of downtown Fort Worth. Home to many amazing shops and restaurants, Sundance Square has repeatedly been voted one of the most walkable downtowns in the United States. Apart from the shops and restaurants, there are always different events going on, so be sure to visit the area frequently.
9. Fort Worth Museum of Science and Industry
Located in Fort Worth’s cultural district, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and Industry is home to many different attractions, including the Noble Planetarium and the Omni Theater. The museum was originally built in 1945 but has recently been renovated. It’s also home to the renowned Fort Worth Children’s Museum.
10. Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall
Enjoy a night out at the symphony or the ballet? If so, you definitely need to check out the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall. The building itself is beautiful and is located near Sundance Square, right in the middle of downtown. Bass Performance Hall is home to the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Opera, Texas Ballet Theater and more.
